Hawaiian Islands Weather TOP

Synopsis: Light trade winds are expected this weekend with just a few showers expected for windward and mauka areas as well as a few afternoon showers over some interior locations. Hurricane Ignacio is currently forecast-pass by just north the state. A somewhat wetter and breezy weather pattern may accompany its passage.
Discussion: High pressure is centered far-the north-northwest the state. This places the islands in a light trade wind environment. Some local sea breezes can be expected under these light wind conditions. A few passing showers can be expected over windward and mauka areas with some afternoon interior showers expected as well this weekend. The forecast from Sunday night through Wednesday, hinges on the track and intensity hurricane Ignacio, with the forecast uncertainty increasing significantly on Monday and Tuesday. Please see the latest discussion issued by the Central Pacific ...
Aviation: Gentle trade winds will continue-carry scattered showers onto windward slopes and coasts throughout the day today and also through tonight. Localized afternoon sea breezes will allow for the development scattered showers over island interiors and windward coasts late this afternoon through early evening. Expect isolated MVFR cigs in passing showers otherwise VFR conditions will prevail all areas. No airmets are currently in effect, and none are anticipated at this time.
Marine: The current west swell will gradually lower tonight and Sunday. Swells from hurricane Ignacio will begin-affect east facing shores the Big Island today and the remainder the state early next week. Advisory/warning level surf can be expected along exposed shorelines. Small craft advisory conditions can be expected early next week as winds and seas from hurricane Ignacio increase across the area. Tropical storm conditions are possible depending on the track hurricane Ignacio. For more details regarding impacts from hurricane Ignacio, please refer-the hurricane local ...
